Share:Inside Justice is seeking skilled professionals to offer their expertise pro bono to help us expand our impact and enhance our storytelling. Whether you have experience in grant writing, marketing, PR, SEO, web design, or data protection, your contribution can help us continue our vital work investigating potential miscarriages of justice and advocating for systemic change.
This is an exciting time to make an impact, as media and public awareness of wrongful convictions is growing. We are a small but impactful charity reliant on the generosity of skilled experts. By volunteering your skills, you will be part of a passionate network working towards justice and fairness. You would be joining a formidable team of leading lights and gain incredible insights, as well as full support from our team.
Due to our small resource and exceptionally busy workload, we cannot provide in-depth training, so we do need self-starters with prior experience. Whether you are an individual looking to build a fairer justice system or a corporate offering support-in-kind, we would be delighted to hear from you.
We are currently looking for expertise in the following areas:
Grant/Bid Writers
Commitment: Flexible – based on availability and project needs
Role Overview:
We are seeking experienced grant/bid writers with a strong track record in securing major funding. This role will add to our capacity and increase the speed of our bid turnaround as we continue improving our success rates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify funding opportunities aligned with our mission.
- Draft compelling grant proposals and funding bids.
- Work collaboratively with our CEO and fundraising officer to refine and tailor applications.
- Ensure bids meet funders’ requirements and align with strategic objectives.
- Support the preparation of funding impact reports as needed.
Person Specification:
- Proven success in securing major grants or funding.
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
- Experience working with charities or social justice causes (desirable).
Marketing Content Creators – Video Storytellers
Commitment: Flexible – project-based
Role Overview: We need creative video storytellers to translate our resonant themes into compelling digital assets that engage our audiences and drive action.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging short-form and long-form video content to share on social media and our website.
- Work with our team to understand key themes and translate them into visually powerful narratives.
- Capture and edit footage, including interviews, animations, or graphics where needed.
- Provide creative input on storytelling approaches to increase impact.
Person Specification:
- Experience in video production, editing, and storytelling.
- Proficiency in video editing software.
- Passion for social justice and human rights issues.
- Ability to work independently and creatively with minimal direction.
Data Protection Reviewer (Fixed-Term Project)
Commitment: Project-based – estimated 1-2 months
Role Overview: We are seeking a data protection specialist to review our current data handling, storage, and protection policies to ensure we meet GDPR and other relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess Inside Justice’s data protection policies and practices.
- Identify compliance gaps and areas for improvement.
- Provide recommendations to enhance data security and compliance.
- Deliver a final report outlining key findings and necessary changes.
Person Specification:
- Expertise in GDPR and data protection laws.
- Experience conducting data compliance audits or advising on data security.
- Ability to present complex regulatory requirements in a clear, actionable manner.
Website Designer/Brand Consultant
Commitment: Flexible – project-based
Role Overview: We need a website designer and brand expert to help refine our online presence and visual identity, ensuring our digital communications effectively engage our audiences. This role is focused on design, not technical website development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess Inside Justice’s current website design and branding.
- Provide strategic recommendations on improving user experience and visual appeal.
- Develop design concepts that align with our mission and values.
- Collaborate with our team and external developers to implement design updates.
Person Specification:
- Experience in branding, UX/UI design, or website aesthetics.
- Strong understanding of digital engagement strategies.
- Passion for social justice and non-profit storytelling.
PR Specialist – Media Outreach & Story Promotion
Commitment: Flexible – project-based
Role Overview: We are looking for a PR specialist to focus on promoting Inside Justice’s stories, increasing media visibility, and securing opportunities for expert comment in journalistic media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and pitch compelling stories to national and regional media outlets.
- Build relationships with journalists covering criminal justice, legal affairs, and human rights.
- Identify and secure opportunities for Inside Justice representatives to provide expert commentary.
- Draft press releases, opinion pieces, and media statements.
- Monitor media coverage and identify opportunities for response and engagement.
Person Specification:
- Experience in PR, media relations, or journalism.
- Strong writing and pitching skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Established media contacts, particularly in legal, social justice, or investigative reporting.
- Ability to work independently and react quickly to emerging news stories.
SEO Expert
Commitment: Flexible – project-based
Role Overview: We are seeking an SEO expert to enhance Inside Justice’s online visibility, ensuring our content reaches wider audiences and ranks effectively in search engines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct an SEO audit of Inside Justice’s website and content.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve search rankings and website traffic.
- Provide recommendations on keyword optimisation, metadata, and site structure.
- Advise on content creation best practices to enhance SEO effectiveness.
- Work with our team to track and measure SEO performance.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in SEO strategy and implementation.
- Knowledge of keyword research, on-page and off-page SEO techniques.
- Familiarity with SEO tools such as Google Analytics.
- Ability to communicate complex SEO concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
