Inside Justice trustee Dr Jessica Ritchie, University of Leicester, has written an article about the Patryk Pachecka case in the Journal of Criminal Law.

Her article, 'The Criminal Court of Appeal's Stale Approach to Fresh Evidence' gives an overview of how forensic evidence was treated during the original trial in 2017 and then again in the retrial in 2021 where Patryk and his co-accused Grzegorz Szal were found not guilty of murder.

Serious failures were discovered throughout the reinvestigation and a review has now been ordered by the Metropolitan police who originally investigated the murder.
