The Court of Appeal has heard fresh evidence in the case of the Chinese dissident Wang Yam, an MI6 informant convicted of murder after a secret trial, which would have had a “dramatic impact” on the jury in his trial, Duncan Campbell & Richrad Norton-Taylor report in the Guardian.

The court heard from three new witnesses, including neighbours of the murdered man, 86-year-old author and photographer Alan Chappelow. 

The lord chief justice, Lord Thomas, sitting with Mr Justice Sweeney and Mrs Justice May, reserved judgment and said a decision would be made “as soon as possible”.
